• When did you work with us? From 1994 till 1999 at General College Writing Center.
• What was your role? writing consultant
• What education and/or occupation(s) have you pursued since working with us? Graduated in 2003 with Master Degree of Education; since 2000 to present worked with Vietnamese MN Association, Legal Offices, Ramsey County as Teacher of ESL Teacher, Counselor, Legal Assistant, and Interpreter/Translator.

Reflections on your center experience:

• Did your work with us influence your educational or occupational choices? If so, how? The building of English and the good attitudes of the Directors and colleagues helped me advance well in the English writing field which is very useful for me in my work

  Preparing statements for Vietnamese to appear before the court, explaining to the judges the many reasons why Vietnamese people—due to the Vietnam war ravage effect, the lack of English knowledge, and the differences of culture and tradition—commit wrong doings

  Translating and the interpreting documents from English into Vietnamese and vice versa

  Helping the Vietnamese community work well with US officials and other Asian communities, like Hmong, Lao, or Cambodian

  Working with American Red Cross and Vietnamese-US Volunteers as translator/interpreter, helping people in case of need.

  Joining the Vietnamese Hung Vuong (King Hung) Association as interpreter/translator, and helping the Vietnamese young generation to understand their history, respect their country, and excel to bring honor to it.

  Assisting the Tibetan Rinpoches from Tibet or India who come to Minnesota Buddhist temples to propagate Buddhism by translating Buddhist documents and presenting them verbally from English into Vietnamese and vice versa so that people can lead happy and righteous lives, thus building up good communities.

• What are the most significant abilities, values, or skills that you developed in your work with us? Working with people with compassion and intelligence; the knowledge that honesty, diligence, and hard work help bring success to most people; good in verbal skills, very quick in interpreting from English into Vietnamese or vice versa; possess clear and concise English writing. 
• In your personal and professional life today, how do you find yourself using what you learned from working with us? The kind attitude and the diligence of the Directors and staff, and the English skill I learned from the Center has helped me succeed well when going to work in real life.
• Anything else you want to tell us and your fellow Center alums? I still remember well the Center Writing Directors and staff of General College.  Their help and encouragement assisted me much to succeed.
